PRESS ANNOUNCEMENTApril 20, 2009 Anhydro to deliver Biofuel technology to DONG EnergyWhen the United Nations convenes its 2009 climate summit in Copenhagen, Inbicon - the technology company of DONG Energy - will showcase their biomass-to-ethanol conversion and energy-integration at the new 1.4 million-gallon-per-year demonstration plant. Anhydro has delivered the drying system for this plant.
"Mid of 2008 we designed the first second generation bioethanol demonstration plant for the production of bioethanol, biofuel and molasses," said project manager, Henrik Boye Jørgensen from INBICON.
INBICON is the technology company of DONG Energy and the company is to establish its own second generation bioethanol production on a future demonstration plant in connection to the Asnæs Power Plant in Kalundborg, Denmark. The production is based on the Inbicon technique using wheat straw as feedstock. The plant will produce 5.4 million liters of bioethanol annually, on the basis of 30,000 tonnes of straw. There will also be produced 8,250 tonnes of biofuel and 11,100 tonnes of animal feed.
"The first bioethanol will be ready in connection with the climate summit at the end of 2009," said Henrik Boye Jørgensen.
To evaluate the best and most reliable solution for the drying system, INBICON initiated a tender and invited, among others, Anhydro.
"We invited Anhydro, because Anhydro has the possibility of engineering as well as supplying nearly all drying technologies and therefore has credibility for the selection of the best drying technology for individual processes. Anhydro has a proven track record within drying and evaporation technology for starch and ethanol during the past 30 years. During the tender Anhydro fulfilled our expectations and won because they offered the best drying system solution, combined with an environmentally friendly concept," said Henrik Boye Jørgensen.
For the INBICON project, Anhydro will deliver a Drying System for the drying of the lignin fraction. In close cooperation between INBICON and Anhydro, a complete integrated dryer system has been designed in order to meet lowest energy consumption and highest environmental protection.
"The integrated filter system, the Back mixing and Recycling System and the Motor Control Cabinet and Control System are completing the dryer to a package unit system. The system is pre-manufactured and tested in the workshop," explained Henrik Boye Jørgensen.
"At Anhydro we see the agreement as a clear indication that our expertise is state of the art. We have the know-how to deliver sustainable solutions for INBICON, and this will affect both today but also tomorrows generation," said Thomas Holst, Vice President EMEA from Anhydro.
